However, healthy skin requires consistency and commitment, sticking to these ‘skincare resolutions’ will ensure healthy skin all year long. A ‘skincare resolution’ is a skincare habit you commit to throughout the year, to achieve healthy, glowing skin - for both short and long-term results.

We have curated a list of skincare resolutions to maintain a healthy glow all year round!

 

1. CLEAN OUT YOUR BEAUTY STASH!

Skincare products are not designed to last forever, checking the expiry date of your cosmetic items is not on anyone’s to-do list.  However, the start of a new year is the perfect time for a full skincare clean out!

Using expired products can cause irritation and bacterial infections on the skin. Even when you are consistent with your skincare, breakouts can be caused by using out-of-date products. Large skincare collections result in a lot of unused products, sort through your must-haves and products that work for you…future you will thank you! 

 

2. MOISTURISE IN THE MORNING AND NIGHT.

Hydrated skin is happy skin! Moisturising in the morning will give you a glowing complexion that lasts all day, and doubles as a hydrating primer that will make your makeup application flawless. Moisturising at night will restore the moisture that was lost throughout the day and assist in skin cell turnover that occurs overnight.

Moisturiser serves as a protective barrier that locks in moisture and guards against free radicals on the skin. Regardless of if your skin is oily, combination, ‘normal’ or dry, moisturiser is necessary to regulate sebum production and seal hydration in against the skin. This year be consistent with your moisturiser!

 

3. EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!

Cleansing the face both morning and night is essential to remove dead skin cell build up, bacteria, and free radicals that accumulate on the skin throughout the day. However, exfoliating the skin (after cleansing) up to three times a week will give your skin a deep reset, and allow skincare products and face masks to be absorbed effectively. 4. FREQUENT FACE MASKS.

5. WEAR SUNSCREEN! 

WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY.  Although you may be tired of hearing it, you can never dismiss this step! Wearing SPF will ensure your skin is shielded from sun damage, which causes premature ageing and fine lines. Apply sunscreen after you moisturise, under your makeup. This will add an extra layer of hydration while protecting the skin. But don’t stop there! Always apply sunscreen to any exposed areas of skin before going out…no matter what the weather! UV rays can still harm the skin no matter rain, hail or shine!
