DIY Face Masks for all Skin types

best donkey milk soap

There is very little a good face mask can’t fix. Although, some ingredients can do more harm than good. We’ve composed a list of the best - and most effective ingredients for a wide range of skin conditions that are all easily accessible and soothing for the skin.

Below, we’ve provided a recipe to treat dull skin, dark under-eye circles and fine lines & wrinkles. All ingredients can be found within the comfort of your own home and are super-simple to make.

DULL SKIN:

Dull skin lacks radiation and appears flat and lacklustre, usually presenting with an uneven texture. Luckily, we have found the ultimate ‘pick me up’ for your skin. Just like you rely on your morning caffeine hit to boost your energy and wake you up, ready for the day ahead, coffee also has the ability boost the appearance and act as a wake-up call for your skin! The high caffeine content found in coffee constricts blood vessels, temporarily tightening your skin, while also providing essential anti-oxidants. Here’s how:

Ingredients:

  • 1tbsp fine ground coffee
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp cold water

Method and application:

Combine all ingredients in small bowl to create a paste (adding more honey until you achieved the desired texture). Massage gently into your face using circular motions. Allow mask to dry for 30 minutes, rinse with cold water to reveal your new revitalised skin.

FINE LINE AND WRINKLES:

Fine lines and wrinkles are no feat for our secret ingredient…Bananas. Rich in potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin A, these little bundles of joy are the perfect natural moisturiser. Combine them with anti-inflammatory properties of honey, the soothing nature of yoghurt and the added brightening ability of turmeric and you have the ultimate DIY natural Botox. Here’s how:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana (you’ll be using equal parts banana peel and banana)
  • ½ teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon yoghurt (full fat)
  • 1 pinch of turmeric

Method and application:

First prepare the banana peel. Using a knife, gently scrape the inside of the peel, to remove all the white remaining on the inside. The yellow, outer skin of the peel should be all that remains, this can be discarded. Mash equal parts banana and peel (roughly 1 teaspoon of each). Combine banana, honey, yoghurt, and turmeric until you achieve a desired paste consistency. Spread a thin layer over clean, dry skin and allow to sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off using cold water, applying moisturiser after your skin has dried.

DARK UNDEREYE CIRCLES:

In a society that relies so heavily on technology, our eyes often pay the price. Constant exposure to computer screens and phones, combined with lack of sleep and increased stress, increases dark circles and puffiness around the eye. Dark circles are hard to get rid of and often hinder one’s confidence. Coconut oil is the most effective natural remedy to remove dark circles and heavy bags around the eye.

Here’s how: This one is super simple, no recipe, no ingredient list. Simply massage a few drops of pure coconut oil under the eyes, until absorbed. For best results, apply daily.
